Overland Park Chiropractor

When I was in high school I experienced the onset of sudden back pain that literally took my breath away. Fortunately, my mom took me to the Chiropractor. That experience changed my life forever!

I always knew I wanted to go into the healthcare field. I just didn’t know which part. It wasn’t until my junior year of college that I actually figured it out. I thought of all the healthcare providers that my family and I had visited over the years and there was only one that stood out in my mind. It was our Chiropractor. After a visit to my Chiropractor I felt amazing! I couldn’t really say that about any other healthcare practitioner I had been to. I knew I wanted to help make people feel good, just like my Chiropractor did for me.

I chose to go to National College of Chiropractic because it was and still continues to be one of the top schools in the country and it is located close to my home town. The education from National covered subjects found in any medical school; anatomy, physiology, microbiology, neurology, orthopedics, just to name a few. Chiropractic is a profession that believes in the body’s ability to heal itself AND heal itself even better and faster if given the right tools! This is why my treatment plans could include many things from the chiropractic adjustment to nutrition to breathing exercises. I enjoy working with each of my patients to develop an individualized plan.

I have always been an active person both athletically and in my community. Moving back home is giving me the opportunity to reconnect with family and friends. When I am not with patients I enjoy spending time with my children, playing with my dog, gardening (love it!), cooking, traveling and reading books.

In my life I try to keep things simple and pure. I read EVERY label on food and utilize my healthy guidelines, which I share with my patients. Just like everyone else, I should exercise more than I do….I’m working on it! I think it’s more important to spend time with people rather than electronics. I am a firm believer in whole body nutritional cleansing..…I don’t do that as much as I should either. Laughter has amazing medicinal qualities; everyone should take a dose of that at least once a day. All other medicines I take as a last resort.

I love being a Chiropractor!!! I would love to help you feel better. Chiropractors treat many many ailments besides the back. Make that phone call, send that email; you’ll never know how good you can feel until you do.

Dr. Laura Asks some important questions of interest to Orland Park residents - Chiropractor Orland Park Dr. Laura Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
What is the purpose of pain?
Pain prompts many Orland Park folks to begin chiropractic care. But pain isn't the problem! Pain is just how your body alerts you that a limit has been reached (or exceeded), that something isn't working right and that some type of change is needed. As a chiropractor, my job is finding the underlying cause and recommending the changes needed to bring your body back into balance.
